Do I need planning permission to install a deck?

You should always check with your local authority if you are considering a deck for your house or private property, additionally your landlord if you are in rented property. If it’s for a holiday home on a managed site then you should speak with the site owner before starting any work.

How much does it cost for a survey and quotation?

In almost every case this service is free with no obligation, we only reserve the right to make a charge if we would incur any extraordinary cost to provide your quotation.

Is timber decking durable?

The timber decking we use is manufactured from pressure treated timber that has been impregnated with Tanalith-E, a unique environmentally preferred and proven timber preservative and is guaranteed for fifteen years. Tanalith-E treated timber does not require painting or staining to maintain its preservative properties although decorative coatings can be applied if required.

A well-maintained deck should be structurally sound for around 25 years. To keep it looking good it will need periodic cleaning and any finishes will need refreshing

What about the environment?

Our timber comes from forest sources that are managed to strict international environmental standards. The pollution created by the harvesting of timber is far less than other man-made products, with the by products of timber being used as chippings and sawdust. We also recycle our timber off-cuts and waste.

Timber has a high aesthetic and natural appeal which is the main reason why many customers and site owners are preferring timber, the “natural” choice.

What about Fire permformance?

The TRADA states: ‘Risk of fire. Wide experience has shown that wooden decks are very resistant to ignition.

Can decking be used on a sloping garden?

This is one of the main advantages of decking. With the installation of support posts decking can be used to overcome the problems of sloping gardens without major landscaping costs. A level, comfortable seating platform can be provided, with steps into the garden.

What about my drain cover?

For that occasional access to your manhole cover, a removable panel can be used to cover the drain and allow access when required.
