Frequently Asked Questions

Is timber decking durable?
- The timber decking we use is manufactured from pressure treated timber that has been impregnated with Tanalith E, a unique environmentally preferred and proven timber preservative and is guaranteed for fifteen years. Tanalith E treated timber does not require painting or staining to maintain its preservative properties although decorative coatings can be applied if required.
A well-maintained deck should be structurally sound for around 25 years. To keep it looking good it will need periodic cleaning and any finishes will need refreshing
Will I require planning permission?
- We offer a comprehensive design and installation service to suit a wide range of requests. Whilst in most cases planning permission or Building regulations approval will not be required, we can submit planning applications, provide drawings where necessary and attend site meetings to ensure that the deck you require is safe, legal and most of all, exactly what you wished for.
What about Fire permformance?
- The TRADA states: ‘Risk of fire. Wide experience has shown that wooden decks are very resistant to ignition.

What about the environment?
- Our timber comes from forest sources that are managed to strict international environmental standards. The pollution created by the harvesting of timber is far less than other man-made products, with the by products of timber being used as chippings and sawdust. We also recycle all our timber off-cuts and waste.
Timber has a high aesthetic and natural appeal which is the main reason why many customers and site owners are preferring timber, the “natural” choice.
Can decking be used on a sloping garden?
- This is one of the main advantages of decking. With the installation of support posts decking can be used to overcome the problems of sloping gardens without major landscaping costs. A level, comfortable seating platform can be provided, with steps into the garden.
What about my drain cover?
- For that occasional access to your manhole cover, a hinged panel can be used to cover the drain and allow access when required.
